Close-up shot of a musician playing the trumpet during a live performance, highlighting musical passion.

Music has almost always been a part of Shaun’s life. His father was a part-time music minister so he was always singing in church choirs and musicals. In 7th grade he was encouraged by his father to try band and started playing trumpet. During his first year at Flagler Palm Coast High School a senior began staying after school helping Shaun practice and making jazz mix tapes for him to listen to. Jazz drew him into playing more and within a year’s time he went from being the 2nd worst to the best trumpet player in the band. Music became his passion and eventually his vocation.

During high school he had superior ratings for trumpet solos, brass ensemble, jazz combo, and student conductor. During that time he also began playing piano, french horn, and percussion. He was first chair in the tri-county honor band and in his senior year was third chair in the FBA All State Jazz Band. His first year in college he was a first alternate for the National Community College All Star Band. Eventually, Shaun continued music study at the Baptist University of Florida where he was lead and solo trumpet for the jazz band, and was a featured soloist on Herbert L. Clarke’s “The Carnival of Venice”, formed a jazz combo that played at local coffee shops and events, and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Music. This is also where he met his lovely and talented wife, Alison. After BUF, Shaun completed a Masters degree in Music Technology from Indiana University.

Shaun has continued to stay active as a church musician, band director, and has participated in local groups and events. He enjoys many things and when he is not working you might find him fishing, rooting for the Miami Dolphins, coaching flag football, or watching movies with his family (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, epic historical movies- especially foreign films).
